Holly Springs, Mississippi is a place that seems very uneventful on the surface. It is surprisingly home to a number of historical events in history. The first picture is one of a marker that is home to the Mississippi Central Railroad Depot. I forgot what the marker reads...sorry.
The next picture is one Phillips Grocery! It was in some magazine long ago for their tasty hamburgers. I ate there yesterday. Don't get the mustard; it's awful. And no onions!! Stinky breathe!!
This beautiful building is home to the Ida B. Wells Museum. The museum commemorates the efforts of Wells to help end lynching. A native of Holly Springs, Wells sought to end the lynching after some of her close friends were lynched by a mob.
This gorgeous outer frame is the window of my car. I was on was on my planning period so I wasn't about to get out! Rust College is one of the oldest African American colleges in the US. If I am correct, it was one of the first Methodist established schools. Magic Johnson came to the college to improve the conditions of the athletic facilities, but hmm...
Another pic of Rust College....
I forgot what this is...but it's over there by the Wells Museum..I probably have those two pictures mixed up but I don't know. Just take a walk on College Ave and you can see for yourself.
There were some other food places that I wanted to include. Annie's, JD's, and my all time favorite SHORT STOP!! Gas stations are the best places to get food!! But I didn't want people looking at me like I was crazy (er).
